1. Eligibility
Renters must be at least 23 years of age and hold a valid driver's license issued in their country of residence for at least 2 years. A passport is required at pickup.
2. Reservations & Payment
A 30% deposit is required to confirm the reservation. The remaining balance is due 14 days before the pickup date. We accept major credit cards and bank transfer in USD.
3. Security Deposit
A refundable security deposit of $1,500 will be held on a credit card at pickup and released within 14 days of return, subject to inspection of the vehicle.
4. Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made more than 30 days before pickup receive a full refund minus a 5% processing fee. Cancellations within 14–30 days forfeit the deposit. No refunds within 14 days of pickup.
5. Insurance & Liability
All rentals include basic liability and collision coverage. Renters are responsible for the deductible in case of an accident and for any damage caused by negligence or off-route driving.
6. Permitted Use
Vans may be driven only on public roads and approved off-road tracks within Costa Rica. River crossings, beach driving on soft sand, and crossing international borders are strictly prohibited.
7. Pickup & Return
Vehicles are delivered fully fueled and clean. They must be returned in the same condition. Late returns are charged at $50 per hour up to a maximum of one full additional day.
8. Roadside Assistance
24/7 roadside assistance is included with every rental. In case of mechanical failure, Van Trip Costa Rica will provide a replacement vehicle or prorated refund.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of San José.
